About the Department

The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department (PFVFD) is one of 9 volunteer fire/rescue/EMS departments in Calvert County, MD. The department operates two engines, a rescue squad, tower, and brush units providing service to a large response area including Calvert, Charles, Anne Arundel and St. Mary’s counties. Our department is staffed solely by a dedicated group of volunteers 100% of the time.

The PFVFD membership includes 80+ individuals, many of which are current or retired firefighters with paid departments in the metropolitan area such as the District of Columbia, Prince George’s County, Montgomery County, Howard County, Alexandria, VA and others.

The PFVFD recently placed an order for a new Emergency One Rescue Squad scheduled for delivery in September 2018. The PFVFD is also excited about the construction of a new fire station scheduled to be completed in 2019. The new station will include the latest health and safety features, expanded apparatus bays; additional office, meeting and storage space; a workout room along with semi-private bunk rooms.
