About the Department

Mount Savage Volunteer Fire Company is a 100% volunteer fire department that serves an estimated population of 7,000 residents. We have several commercial structures in our first due area such as, k-8 elementary/middle school, four churches, the Mt. Savage Specialty Refractories plant, three bars and one restaurant. We provide mutual aid fire protection to 7 fire department in Allegany County. We also provide ALS/.BLS EMS coverage.

Along with the fire/EMS coverage our department has a variety of fundraising activities which include monthly steak dinners, band bash, and our annual cash bash. Our members perform hundreds of hours training and fundraising so we can protect the community we live in.

Why Mount Savage Volunteer Fire Company?

Just like all volunteer fire departments we depend on people who give up their free time to help others, but also have full-time jobs and families. As much as all our volunteers would love to make every call or work every fundraiser, it’s just not possible. The department will instruct you in what training is needed and will pay for any classes taken.

If you join and don’t want to fight fires or become an emergency medical technician, you can join and be a member that just helps with fundraising and still have all the benefits as the rest of the members.

Please consider joining and help us help our community.
