About the Department

The Middle River Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company (MRVFR) was established in 2015 as a result of the merger of the Middle River Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Company and the Middle River Volunteer Fire Company to provide fire, rescue, and emergency medical services to the citizens of Middle River, Essex, Hawthorne, and other communities within Eastern Baltimore County.

Why Middle River Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company?

Our department is a progressive volunteer organization unified in creating a safe and secure community and will strive for “excellence” in everything we do in order to become recognized as the “premier” Fire-EMS-Rescue company in the state.

The Middle River Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company consists of more than 100 active volunteer emergency response personnel who include Emergency Medical Responders (EMR), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), Paramedics, Firefighters, Rescue Technicians and Rescue Divers. In addition to our active members, our department has a core group of associate members. Our associate members are instrumental in carrying out many of the administrative functions that need to be completed every day by the Company.
