About the Department

Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad works with Calvert County Public School System to encourage young High School students to sign up for the program through the Vocational School (starting as a junior in high school). Classes are taken in the classroom as well as at the Maryland Fire & Rescue Institute (University of MD) Training locations in Southern Maryland. At the completion of their Junior & Senior years they will have almost completed enough credits for an Associate Degree. We have had in Calvert County many top young people who have gone on as Career Firefighter/Paramedics.

Why Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department?

We have had many awards for the top training department in the state of Maryland. We continue to have people interested in the fire service from all over Calvert County come to join our department.
