About the Department

Deale Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad was founded in 1946. The department serves the population of Southern Anne Arundel County with fire protection, medical, and water rescue services. Our first due covers communities such as Deale, Shady Side, Fairhaven, Friendship, and Tracy’s Landing. Our current fleet includes two engines, a ladder truck, a tanker, an ambulance, a brush truck, and a rescue boat which combined run about 2,100 calls for service a year to the surrounding communities.

The Department relies heavily on fundraising activities to support facility repairs, equipment replacement, and other budgetary needs. These fundraising activities include All You Can Eat Breakfasts, Oyster Roasts, a yearly carnival, and a Christimas Bazaar. Available to to the Department, and often applied for, are funding grants through the SAFER grant program, Assistance to Firefighter Grants (AFG), and the State funded Senator Amoss Grant Fund. These additional funding sources are used to augment budgetary needs.

Why Deale Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad?

The Deale Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad is a respected organization within the community and also the county. We offer a long list of benefits including in-house, local, and national training, flexible duty assignments, member incentives and events — and most importantly a friendly, fun, professional atmosphere where you’ll find a second family. All personal protective equipment is provided free of charge. Members at the station enjoy free Wifi and computer access to complete course work as necessary. The Deale VFD seeks volunteers to bolster its ranks in a wide range of services.

We take emergency services very seriously. While individuals volunteer to serve their community, our volunteers must realize that the services the department provides are a critical component of the life saving services available to the citizens of our communities. We must be committed to providing our services 24/7/365.
