About the Department

The Cobb Island Volunteer Fire Department and EMS, Inc. is located in Southern Charles County near King George, Virginia. (12 miles off of U.S. Route 301) We have provided essential Fire and EMS-related care to our community since 1946. Training is provided at our station as well as certified through MFRI (Maryland Fire Rescue Institute) located in LaPlata, Md. Many of our members, both past and present started their volunteer service with us and were then hired by paid FIRE/EMS departments within the Maryland, DC, Virginia region. Once the member is enrolled in approved training through MFRI we provide free transportation to and from the training site.

Why Cobb Island Volunteer Fire Department & EMS, Inc.?

For possible EMS interested candidates, we are home to a paid staff of the Charles County Department of Emergency Services who provide essential ALS care to our community and the entire Cobb Neck Region. Being a waterfront community, during the Spring to Summer months our community swells in numbers and we see a higher volume of Boat related traffic and calls for service. We currently have two Fire/Rescue boats, one located on a lift (within driving distance) and a second inflatable boat located within our station. Several of our members are Water/Ice Certified to respond to Ice related incidents requiring special training and equipment.
This department prides itself in dedication, training, and perfection.
