About the Department

The Volunteer Fire Department of Brandywine, Inc. (Brandywine VFD) is an engine/squad company located in southern Prince George’s County near the Charles County line. Other emergency apparatus operating from station 840 are Medic 840, a brush truck, and a tanker. Our primary service area is Brandywine and Cheltenham. The area encompasses both rural and densely populated landscapes. Brandywine VFD frequently provides mutual aid to neighboring Charles County.. Several federal government sites exist in our first due area. Conrail train service; MedStar Health’ Keyes Energy; Panda Brandywine; the hhgregg warehouse; Brandywine Crossing Shopping Center; Cheltenham Youth Facility; and U.S. Route 301, a heavily traveled trucking corridor, are also pertinent sites.

Brandywine VFD is actively seeking highly motivated and caring individuals with a “volunteer spirit” and willingness to serve our community as firefighters, ems, and administrative support personnel. Whether a person is new to the fire/ems service or already well-trained and highly skilled, we are looking for dedicated individuals to join our team. From calls in rural settings where there are no fire hydrants to the more densely populated areas with frequent squad and rescue responses, the Brandywine Volunteers require specialized skills and resources specific to the area of need; e.g., fire/ems, rural water supply; extrication; technical rescues; and hazmat. Volunteer members are also needed for support services; e.g., administrative duties, fire prevention and safety education, fundraising, etc. Training is provided. MAKE A DIFFERENCE! JOIN THE BRANDYWINE VOLUNTEERS!
